Alrighty this is =pagedrillgirl speaking! Alot of people have asked about the history of Burrow Wolves, so I shall explain!

Burrow Wolves are something I've been drawing since about 2nd grade. (Im 20 now) They mean ALOT to me. Every character you guys make means alot to me. I never had any burrow wolf characters when I was a kid, I just drew different burrows, and tunnels but the idea was there. (I had my anthro charas I named instead)

I drew these guys all through elementary school (which I went to a private Christian school..that initeself is a story of it's own.) So lets just say people didn't really..like them that much. Once I got to about 6th grade, I got out of anthro (which I didn't know it even had a name..I called em dog people lol.) And into anime. I did anime pretty much all through Middle School, and some in H.S But then once I got into freshemen year I rediscovered anthro art, and wha-bam here we go. The first time I ever showed Burrow Wolves to the publish was January of this year.

Burrow Wolves are not your cute n cuddly dogs. They are a fierce and unforgiving. They mate for life. If one mate dies the other will either commit suicide or go insane and eventually be killed by the other pack memebers.

Defects

Might I add that Burrow Wolves DO NOT Have "manes" normally. It is something that *uranium-husky came up with, asked about, and I Oked it. DO NOT draw you burrow wolf with a "mane" She wants to keep this as her blood line trait. Which is fine by me. Simply because REAL animals will almost always come in some form of "defect" as it's called. For example Corgis come in Fluffy sometimes, making their coat extremly fluffy. It isnt diserable but it still happens. If you think you have an idea for a "defect" Submit it with your chara form and I'll tell you if it's suitable.


Burrows

Burrows are extreemly large and complex underground tunnels. Burrow Wolves spend almost all their time in it, as they do not like wandering up above the ground. Every Burrow Wolf goes up now and then (warriors more than others due to their hunting job.) But it;s just something that the species isnt' ment for. Their thick 3 layered coat isn't good for above the ground dwelling as they would easily over-heat. Hunters must choose and pick times wisely specially in the summer times.

Burrows are dimly lit by a special mixture of fire-flys, herbs and spices. It glows dimly for about a season and than more mixture needs to be made and applied.

JOBS (In order of ranking)

Alpha Female

The female is ranked higher than the male (in most cases) She is responsible for order and disipline throughout the pack.

Alpha Male

2nd in command. Helps the female with whatever she needs.

Warriors/Hunters

The strongest (aside from the alphas and even that can be contraversial) of the pack. These are the brave ones who venture outside the most. They bring in kills, and if another clan were to invade they would be the ones defending the pack.

Guards

They guard the workers, and make sure they don't slack off. Guards are strong and often hot headed due to their supervisory role. Even with all their power they are never permited to kill a worker unless threatened or "ganged up on."

Teachers

Teachers spend most their time with the puppies. They teach the puppies the ways, and lifestyles of Burrow Wolves. Some of the more experienced teachers could even be considered shamen, and are very valuable to a clan. They only time they regularly venture outside is to help the puppies gather fireflies or sometimes some teachings will call for it.

Puppies

Puppies are taken away from their mothers as soon as their are weaned. From that day one they spend all their time with their teachers. They do not know their mother or father UNLESS they come from the alpha's inwhich case if they are not strong or bold they are slaughtered. Its useally not good to be born into the alpha litter. Alpha's that do survive (in rare cases) grow up to become alpha male or female. It is rare that this ever happens.

Workers

These make up most of the pack. They are outcast memembers, or exiled memebers of other packs. Perhaps their pack merged with their new pack. A number of different reasons could lead to one being a worker. It's not a desired postion, but without the workers the clan would die as they are not fit for above-the-ground living.

Pack rank is based upon skill, personality, and devotion. Each "job" has their more experienced higher ranking personals.


FAQ

Do they get along with OTHER Burrow Wolf Packs?

ABSOLUTLY NO!

Burrow Wolves are EXTREEMLY territorial. A Pack is all they have. If there pack is foolish (or brave) enough to challange another and loose..well all those former teachers/warriors/exct would (in most all cases) become workers. The former Alpha's would be killed publically the following day (if not already dead in the fight.)


WHAT are Earthen Colors?

What i mean by this is colors that animals would come in. You wouldn't see a BRITE blue dog now would you? But they DO have things like blue merel. WHich is a lightish grey giving a blue effect.

Im looking for browns, reds (earthy reds such as red merels/brindles) greys, tans, creams, black, white, oranges (to an extent) blues (more grey than blue) see "Blue merel" on google for an example. NO GREENS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLEASE.

Do they talk?

YES I forgot to add that. THEY DO indeed talk english.

It's dark in the caves. How are they lit?

They are lit by their own mixture of fireflies, herbs and spices. The fireflies are crushed into a smeary goo and than mixed with the other ingredients to form a paste. It's smeared on the walls of the burrows and provides a dim source of lighting.

Pups useally catch and collect the fireflies while the teachers make the mixture.


Do they get along with other beings/critters?

NONONONONONONOoooooooo

PS- There is no humans in Serenity. There are anthro's instead. They ESPECIALLY hate anthros. NEVER draw these as anthros. (I maaay allow a once in a blue moon thing..but as a rule I'ed rather you not draw them as anthros. They hate anthros)

Can my chara like "so-and-so's chara?"

I dunno .__o ask them!

Can my Burrow Wolf be a hybrid mixed with "name animal."

NO. Burrow Wolves HATE other speices and would never mix up with another. NO HYBRIDS.

You DENIED ME!???!! You B*tch!

Whoaaah...ANYONE can make a Burrow Wolf so long as they keep in the standards. I ALWAYS tell you how to fix it if it gets denied. Useally it's something as simple as fur color oO; So just re-submit it when you've fixed whatever issue it had an than I'll accept!

Also this is why you shouldn't begin drawing your burrow wolf untill it gets accepted. No one likes to tell someone that what they have may be wrong due to the rules, but this is sorta a club, and if one person gets away than you know others will see it and want to do what they have done.

Alpha Challange

If you plan on submitting an idea for an alpha NOTE that at ANY time another person could submit an offer. If this happens and I okay their design (OR if it's already a pack member) than a "battle" would insue. Please note that you are taking a BIG risk here as if your charas was to "loose" I would then draw a picture of the victors charas rippings yours a new one. If you make a alpha's YOU MUST BE PREPARED for this! It's the way of the pack.

Im not sure how at this point one would win a battle. Perhaps a vote? A coin toss? I just dont know if you have ideas let me know.

But this is their way.

I would probably also write a mini story dealing with the death. Gosh this sounds kool eh?

Just a warning tho people who are looking to be alpha's. It's fine n dandy but Burrow Wolves are NOT cute n cuddly. They'ed kill their own mamma (if they even knew her) If it ment getting higher up in the pack chain.

But even so they do socializ from time to time. If you would like to draw your wolf with perhaps another pack member go for it. Im sure they would apperciate it! Just make sure you take the time to read up on it and see if it would mix with your character.


Stuff About Serenity

What Is Serenity? It's my made up place where all of my characters live. It's run by anthro's and there isnt alot of technology.

There are no humans in Serenity.

Burrow Wolves Hate Anthros. They would never befriend or talk to other creatures (most of the time)

There weather mimicks Earth, they have seaons, except their winter lasts longer than any other season.

Burrow Wolves make their home out of the FORESTS of Serenity. The soild there is something special and unquie not found anywhere else in Serenity: It's easy to move yet once clumped together will mold into rock hard state.
